Sissinghurst Castle Gardens

white garden

The Sissinghurst Castle Garden in England, is probably the most famous in the country.  The White Garden, pictured left, is the most popular of the individual gardens.  It began as a rose garden in 1931.  Then, in 1950, it was converted to the "White Garden" which features an assortment of white blooms and a gorgeous canopy.

The neat thing about the gardens, is that as you walk through the various individual gardens, you can catch glimpses of the other gardens.  The photo at the right shows the garden of the Bishop's Gate.  As you look through it, you can see the Tower Lawn.

The gardens are open from March through October.  Hours are generally 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

  1. Beautiful! I've read so much about Vita's white garden but I've never actually seen photos of it. Thanks for sharing!
