Ravine State Gardens

Ravine State Gardens is a 59 acre park located in Palatka, Florida.  It's listed on the National Registry of Historic places. The comes from the ravine that was created there by the flow of water from the St. John's River thousands of years ago.  In 1933, it was transformed into a garden by the federal Worlds Progress administration.   About five acres of the property are formal gardens with stone terraces and water features.  The best time to see it is from late January to April, when the azaleas are in bloom.

The gardens are open daily from 8:00 AM to sundown.  Cost of admission is $5.00 per vehicle.

  2. I wondered how far south azaleas grew. There is a big festival here in April near Wilmington.

  4. I like the idea of a ravine. Amazing what water carves from the land. And tons of azaleas are an added bonus. Nice! Thanks.

  7. Making blog rounds and waving hello. It's almost warm enough to get out and enjoy gardens again. Though we're still having frost at night, we're getting there.
