Boboli Gardens

The Boboli gardens are formal 16th century gardens located in Florence, Italy.  They are built on the slopes of Boboli Hill, behind the Pitti Palace, home of the famous Medici family in 1550.

The gardens feature a lot of statues, fountains, and even an amphitheater.  Visitors can walk along white pebbled paths, admiring the cypress trees and statues.  The gardens provide a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of the busy city of Florence.

The Boboli Gardens are open daily from 9 AM until one hour before sunset.  Admission is 3 euros.

  3. Hi Sherry - I loved the Pitti Palace when I saw it decades ago and know that I'd be much more appreciative of it, the surrounds, that Boboli Garden and Florence in general now ... a few holidays needed! Cheers Hilary

  4. Oh, I needed far more time in Florence. Alas, we did not get to see these. Must go back!

    1. If you took a cruise, you never get enough time in these places. It's best to go back and explore on your own.

  5. I have just returned from a long weekend away where a visit to Audley End House and Gardens was included. I was pleased to be reminded of their magnificent Italian garden (by Capability Brown) when I saw your picture. Those kind of gardens are very formal of course, but are extremely relaxing places to be!
