Fred Hamilton Rhododendron Garden


Situated in the North Georgia Mountains, in Hiawassee, Georgia, the Fred Hamilton Rhododendron Garden is lovely place to spend an afternoon.  Visitors will see dogwood, tulip magnolias, azaleas, and of course, rhododendron.  There are over 400 varieties of them - 3000 plants all together.  When they're in bloom, the view is spectacular!

For those who like to hike, there are plenty of trails.  The scenery is gorgeous, with views of Lake Chatuge and Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest mountain.

  
The garden is open daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Admission is $3.00 per person.

    I love Rhododendrons. It's my favorite plant. I used to have a garden boasting all kinds of Rhododendrons. Too bad I had to move. How are you today? :)

      I was just thinking spring was early! I guess I'm used to not seeing flowers until April.

    no rhododendrons in TX - too hot. My Dad in PA is afraid his are busted this year from all of the snow and ice. This garden in GA sounds lovely

    I love rhododendrons. Grow rather well in this part of England. The dogwood, British Columbia's official emblem.

    Like Klahanie, I love Rhododendrons but unlike him, they don't grow well in my area (north-east London) - wrong type of soil! I can never remember whether or not they need alkaline but we are on London Clay,
    That garden looks like a bargain at $3.

    Hi Sherry .. funny to think that the coomon rhododendron is a weed over here .. as they are very invasive and are causing a lot of problems in our woodlands.

    But I do love seeing the great banks of them we have in the UK .. they tend to come out in May, but may be earlier this year .. cheers Hilary
