Sissinghurst Castle Gardens

The Sissinghurst Castle Garden in England, is one of the most famous in the country.  The White Garden, pictured above, is the most popular of the individual gardens found there.  It began as a rose garden in 1931.  Then in 1950, it was converted to the "White Garden" which features an assortment of white blooms and a gorgeous canopy.

The nice thing about the gardens, is that as you walk through the various individual gardens, you can catch glimpses of the other gardens.

The Sissinghurst Castle Garden is open March through October.  Hours are generally from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

  1. All the flowers are white? That took some planning.

  2. That looks delightful, along with a spot of tea. And no doubt much cooler than Texas now - I am whining.

  5. Hi Sherry - I really should get over to see it .. it's not that far away - I think it should be on the list for next year ...

The Gardens are so well known through their association with Vita Sackville West and the Bloomsbury group .. Vita was a gardening columnist for The Observer ... and she arranged the gardens in a series of rooms, with a different character of colour or theme ..

Really identified British gardening .. and highlighted new approaches to gardening the in the 1930s ..

Love that you've highlighted - and Friko confirms my thoughts ..

    Cheers Hilary
