Hakone Gardens is located in Saratoga, California. Founded in 1915, it is the oldest Asian estate garden in the Western hemisphere. It covers eighteen acres and features a bamboo garden, Zen garden, Koi pond, and tea house. It's a very restful place to visit!
The gardens are open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free.
Oldest one? Older than Buchart Gardens. (Sorry, I think I just slaughtered the spelling.)
