Zilker Botanical Gardens in Austin, Texas, cover 26 acres, and are nicknamed, "The jewel in the heart of Austin." The name is well-deserved. It's a picturesque place with several themed gardens, including a rose garden, herb garden, and Japanese garden.
As you can see from the pictures, there are plenty of streams, waterfalls and koi filled ponds. This place is a paradise for those who enjoy water features in a garden.
The gardens were established in 1955 to promote education and love of gardening among all people.
Zilker Botanical Gardens are open from 9:00 AM top 5:30 PM. Cost of admission is $3.00 for adults, and $1.00 for children.
The waterfall is nice!
ReplyDeleteIt really is pretty.
DeleteHi Sherry - Z for zee end of 2014 .. Zilker - what a great name. However what are those trees with 'leopard like' spots? Incredible bark ..
ReplyDeleteHappy end of the year .. cheers Hilary
I think they're Palmetto Palm trees. Those are openings in the bark that make it look like spots from a distance.
DeleteIf I do the A-Z challenge on this blog, Zilker gardens would be a good candidate for the letter, "z"!
I would take so many photos there.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great place for that!
DeleteWow - Ray and I just went through Austin this weekend. We stopped for an indoor exhibit on Gone With the Wind at UTA, but did not go to this garden. I shall have to put it on my list (plus go in warmer weather). We're a tad cool here now.
ReplyDeleteYou'd definitely enjoy it better in warmer weather.
DeleteThe admission price is very generous for such a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteIt really is!
