Flowers Deer Won't Eat

After I moved to Georgia, I discovered that there was a rather substantial deer population residing in the woods behind my house.  Sure enough, they invaded my flower garden, and ate just about everything in it.  I decided to do a little research and find out which flowers they won't touch (unless of course, they're starving).

Here's the list:

Daffodils

Forget-me-nots

Lavender

Larkspur

Foxglove

Butterfly bush

California poppies

                                                                  Snapdragons

                                                                 Blue Salvia

                                                                         Marigolds

Zinnia

If you have a deer infestation, and you like to garden, you might just want to plants some of these in your yard!

  1. Good to know. Wonder if they like dandelions?

  2. Hi Sherry,

Thankfully, we don't have to worry about roaming deer in our garden. However, foxes, that's another matter.

    1. We don't have foxes (at least not that I know of). Are they causing problems for you?

  3. Marigolds have a spicey smell, like pepper to me. I don't like nasturtiums in my salads either. Tried it, but don't like eating them. The deer can have those.

    1. I'm sure the deer would appreciate a tasty snack of nasturtiums!

  4. We don't usually have to worry about deer in our community. We have had several raccoons and skunks in the past.

    1. Coons and skunks aren't too much trouble as far as gardens go.

  5. I need to let my neighbors know. Their property has woods in the back and deer are in their yard all the time. Their favorite is the blueberry bushes.

    1. Can you blame them? I'd be hitting the blueberry bushes, too, if I was a deer.
