Desert Botanical Garden
The Desert Botanical Garden, located in Phoenix, Arizona, covers 145 acres and features desert plants, not only from Arizona, but also from around the world. It is the only botanical garden in the world devoted entirely to desert plants. It was begun in the 1930s with the purpose of conserving the desert environment.
Visitors will see plenty of cacti and succulents. There are also some very nice sculptures and a butterfly exhibit. The optimal time for seeing the cacti in bloom is from March through May.
The garden is open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Admission for adults is $18.00. Admission for children is $8.00.

Pricy! I wonder if I've been there...
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit expensive. Pretty, though!
DeleteThis is so cool. Fun to see famous (or not so famous) gardens around the US. Happy A-Z
ReplyDeleteSydney's Royal Botanical Garden has a succulent section too. Not as large as the one in Phoenix, I imagine.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Sydney's Royal Botanical Garden. It's quite nice!
DeleteI would love to see a desert botanical garden! Talk about vastly different from what I'm used to...Florida doesn't have a whole lot of deserts.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the interview link!
Desert gardens are a lot different from the Midwest gardens I'm used to. They're really beautiful, though.
DeleteThis is one of those must see places when you visit here. Also Papago Park, which isn't far away, and the Phoenix Zoo. All are located near each other, so if you're in the area, plan a full day and prepare to be delighted:)
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice that so many attractions are found nearby!
DeleteCool to see the focus entirely on desert plants. Bit of a trek from the UK to Arizona, but if I'm ever in the area I'll be sure to check it out ;)

Yes, I think it would be a bit of a trek for you. The UK has some amazing gardens, though!
DeleteAnd I thought that Montreal's Botanical Gardens was expensive. Lovely photos, Sherry, it looks like a great place to spend some time enjoying nature.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is a little pricey for a garden.
DeleteOh the desert gardens would be awesome in bloom. Visiting on the A-Z
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry - I'd love to see those gardens .. the desert comes alight and there's so much more to it than meets the eye ..
ReplyDeleteCheers Hilary
