Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden

Located in Xishuangbanna, China, the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden covers an area of almost 2,000 acres.  It is China's largest tropical garden.  The full name of the garden is Tropical Plant Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Science.  (Big name for a big garden!)  As you can guess, the garden is used for research, and contains over 10,000 species of tropical plants.

There are thirteen separate gardens within the main garden.  These include a tropical fruit tree section, shade plants, palms, water plants, national plants, and medicinal plants.

The garden is open daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

    1. This is a great one! The picture of the kids on the pond is fantastic! Now if I could only figure out how to pronounce Xishuangbanna.

(P.S.: I hit publish before I was finished, so had to delete my previous comment, sorry about that!)

    2. "Zish-wong-bahn-ah." I think the kids playing on the "lily pads" is neat, too.

    1. Fruit trees are nice, especially if you can grab a bite to eat while viewing other gardens. (No, you can't do that here!)

    1. I started looking into making this a book. I guess there are several options - Blog2Book, self-publishing through Lulu or Createspace, or finding a publisher (I found one who does quite a few garden books.)I'll work on formatting this as a Word document, then take it from there. We'll see what happens.
