US Botanical Gardens

If you ever visit Washington DC, you should stop by and visit the US Botanical Gardens. It's a short walk from the White House.

Started in 1850, the United States Botanical Gardens is one of the oldest botanic gardens in North America.  It houses about 26, 000 plants, including medicinal plants, orchids, and cacti.

The Conservatory, built in 1933, houses a jungle, desert, and primeval paradise.

Outdoors, the National Garden features a variety of mid-Atlantic plants.

The gardens are open 10-5 daily, including weekends and holidays.  Admission is free.

    1. It doesn't take long to view the gardens. But it's a nice change from the hustle and bustle of the city.

  5. DC is such a cool place to visit. So much to see. These gardens sound nice. Gee, I wonder if our current Prez even remotely knows it's around. Ha!!

    1. There is a lot to see. I've visited DC several times, and I still haven't seen it all.

  6. I have been to Washington but didn't see this garden. It reminds me of Kew, which is FABULOUS, (you need several days to do it justice!)
