Reflections on the A-Z Challenge

This was my second year doing the A-Z challenge, and just like last year, I met many new bloggers and gained new followers.  It was a lot of fun reading other posts.  They were all so different.  Some writers wrote flash fiction.  Others featured book, movies, and music beginning with each letter of the alphabet.  One of my favorites, was one where the blogger came up with a fictitious word, and invited other bloggers to give a definition.  So creative!

The best piece of advice I would have for anyone doing this in the future, is to be prepared and know exactly what you are going to write about before the challenge even begins.  Then you don't have to stress each day.  Just get it done, and visit other bloggers.

Thanks to Arnie for coming up with this, and thanks to all who worked to organize the event and make it possible!

Before I go, I want to let you know that I am a guest over at Brian Hayden's blog, where I have written an article about how to write an excellent query letter.  If you'd like to read it, please stop by!

    1. That's why I don't do it on my other blog - I can't plan what my kids are going to do!

  4. Hi Sherry .. having a theme and the posts written certainly saved time and less sweat! I could now do with a tour of your Gardens - and lots of downtime .. perhaps a book with a glass of wine in each?!

Cheers and I too missed the guess the fictitious word blog .. sounds fun .. I shall have to find her .. cheers Hilary

  6. Hi Sherry,

I think you approached the challenge wisely, kept to a theme and kept your postings brief.

What does concern me is that a number of people involved with the A to Z seemed to put too much pressure on themselves. That's not good or healthy.

However, I'm glad that it has brought forward, mostly, a spirit of the sharing, caring blogging community.

As you probably realise, I would never commit myself to a month long challenge. I hope my satirical postings brought some light relief. That was my goal.

Congrats and I'll check out your link. Have a lovely weekend.

    Gary :)

  8. Sherry, good thoughts on the A-Z. Preparation in advance seems to be the best advice.
