Brown-Pursey House and Cunningham Garden

Cunningham Garden

The Cunningham Garden, located in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is a four acre arboretum which houses the Garden Club of Kentucky.  It is located behind the historic Brown-Pursey house, a red brick period home which was built by John Y. Hill in 1825.  General Custer once slept here.

The grounds are quite lovely.  Visitors will see magnolias, beautiful flowers, and a wisteria-covered pergola.  Be sure to visit the house and see the period furniture inside.

The garden is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Admission is free.

  1. Is there a little sign that says "Custer slept here?"
And I see photos are working again for you!

    1. No little sign. Just information I picked up when I researched the house. Photos aren't working, but I was able to cut and paste this one.

  2. Lovely. Do they offer mint juleps while strolling the grounds?

    1. Big backyards are nice, but they're also a lot of work!

    1. It's a slightly crazy way of getting pics up, but hopefully I won't have to do it for long.
