Bodnant Garden

The Bodnant Garden, located in Conwy Wales, is considered to be one of the most beautiful gardens in the United Kingdom.

The garden covers eighty acres, and is situated on property that surrounds the Bodnant House.  The gardens were first laid out by Henry Davis Pochin, an industrial chemist, in 1874.

There are two parts to the garden - an upper part which consists of terraced gardens, clipped box hedges, and ornamental ponds, and a lower part, also known as the "Dell," which consists of wildflowers and two-hundred year old trees.  If you visit, be sure to look for the tallest redwood in the United Kingdom.

The garden is open daily from March 1 to early November.  Admission is 8.95 British pounds for adults and 4.48 British pounds for children.

  2. These photos are lovely. The purple hydrangeas are stunning. They don't grow very well here in Wyoming.

  6. What a gorgeous and surreal garden. I didn't know there were redwoods in England! I like the canopy. I could probably sit under there for hours and just write.

    1. The gardens actually feature a lot of plants that are not native to the UK. The redwoods are one of them. Yes, it would be a good place to sit and write!

We have an avenue of redwoods near us but they're shrimps compared to the ones that grow in the States.
